Construction Details

As we continue our efforts to create and provide helpful tools for our customers we have completed 4 sets of construction details providing guidance on best practices regarding the use of our products in typical construction.

Residential:

  • Wood frame construction up to 4 storeys with lightweight horizontal cladding (such as siding).
  • Wood frame construction up to 4 storeys with heavyweight cladding (such as brick veneer).

Commercial:

  • Steel frame construction up to 4 storeys with lightweight cladding (such as metal panel).
  • Steel frame construction up to 4 storeys with heavyweight cladding (such as brick veneer).

Each set contains the most common and relevant 2-D details related to these construction types and include:

  • Slab-on-grade to above grade wall
  • Foundation wall at footing
  • Foundation wall to above grade wall
  • Wall to floor
  • Wall at window sill
  • Wall at window head
  • Wall at window jamb
  • Above grade wall at cantilevered floor and balcony
  • Above grade wall to sloped roof (attic and cathedral)
  • Above grade wall to flat roof parapet
